²² But he was stunned^[a] at this demand, and he went away grieving,^(A) because he had many possessions.^(B)

Possessions and the Kingdom

²³ Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have wealth^(C) to enter the kingdom of God!”^{(D) 24} But the disciples were astonished at His words. Again Jesus said to them, “Children,^(E) how hard it is^[b] to enter the kingdom of God!
